Engineered stiles are made with a 3/16" solid wood veneer glued over both sides of the core. The core is made of authentic pine that has been finger-jointed and glued together with an advanced process ensuring the hold of the glue. This makes for a water-resistant core. On the outside of the cores, beneath the veneer, is an edge band made of the same species as the core. This allows for the reliability and stability of the engineered stile, while still showing the appearance of a solid core door; making it a better and more preferred option.
An engineered stile can be made to a customer's preference as a "rough" stile or as an "S4S" stile. The principal durability, qualities, and final appearance will still remain the same in both. The main differences are the preference of the customer and price point.
Rough stiles will have the appearance as the image above. This version will remain uncut on the end and not smoothed over through an S4S moulder. This is a good option for customers can need to get an order quicker and closer to their budget. Ordering rough stiles can be a more economical option. By removing a few minor steps that some customers are able to do in their shop, they can still save even more time and money.
S4S stiles, also known as smooth-four-sides, may very well speak for itself. This stile can be shown in the photo on the left. S4S stiles are cut to the exact length preferred and then run through an S4S moulder machine to smooth all sides of the product. This can be a time consuming step for businesses that go back and forth on orders, stiles, sizes, and species at their shop. Therefore, this is a better option for customers that do not have the extra time, employees, or machinery to do it themselves. That is when we step in! We manufacture the product to your standards, your specifications, and then deliver it to you; ready for assembly.
